The situation

SRAI wanted to continue evolving its LevelUP online learning to better meet the needs of today's research administration professionals. Its goals included creating more engaging learning experiences, incorporating modern instructional design practices, and increasing its capacity to develop high-quality online education. SRAI also wanted courses that universities could use to help build core knowledge within the profession.

For a new course on Federal Acquisition Regulation, much of the content still needed to be developed. SRAI had the subject matter expertise, but needed an experienced learning partner who could work with its experts to turn that knowledge into an effective digital learning experience.

What we did

Springboard worked closely with SRAI's subject matter experts to gather and organize the content, shape the learning experience, and develop the course from design through final production. Our instructional designers interviewed the experts, synthesized their knowledge into a design document, and worked with them to validate the technical accuracy of the content.

The course was developed in Articulate Rise with Storyline interactions that allowed learners to engage more actively with the material and practice applying what they were learning. The development process included design, content development, knowledge checks, technical production, and structured Alpha and Beta reviews before final delivery.

Just as important, Springboard provided additional capacity. One of SRAI's goals was to leverage outside expertise as an extension of its team so internal staff could remain focused on other priorities while continuing to expand its online learning offerings.

What changed

The engagement gave SRAI a new LevelUP course designed around contemporary online learning practices and a collaborative development process that made effective use of its subject matter experts.

The relationship continued beyond the initial project. SRAI returned to Springboard for another online module, building on the experience and approach established through the Federal Acquisition Regulation project. The subsequent engagement again combined SRAI's subject matter expertise with Springboard's instructional design and development capabilities to move from content gathering through final online production.
