The situation

CCIM Institute provides education and professional development for commercial real estate professionals. The organization needed to develop a significant new curriculum while ensuring that courses created by different subject matter experts would provide a consistent, high-quality learning experience.

The challenge extended beyond developing individual courses. CCIM needed an approach that could be used across the curriculum, effectively engage subject matter experts in the development process, and create greater consistency in how learning was designed and delivered.

What we did

Springboard partnered with CCIM to design and develop a series of ten courses, working closely with subject matter experts to translate their knowledge and experience into structured, engaging learning experiences.

Rather than treating each course as a separate development project, Springboard established a common instructional design approach that could be applied across the curriculum. That structure helped create consistency in learning objectives, course organization, instructional methods, participant materials, and the overall learner experience.

Springboard's instructional designers worked alongside CCIM's experts throughout development, helping organize complex technical content around what participants needed to know and be able to do. This allowed the subject matter experts to concentrate on their expertise while Springboard brought the learning design, development process, and project management needed to turn that expertise into effective professional education.

The work also created a more scalable approach for CCIM. The models, processes, and design standards established through the initial curriculum could be applied to future development, helping the organization maintain greater consistency as its educational portfolio continued to evolve.

What changed

The initial engagement resulted in ten courses and a more consistent, scalable approach to curriculum development and delivery. CCIM gained not only new educational offerings, but also a stronger foundation for developing and maintaining high-quality professional learning over time.

The relationship did not end when the initial curriculum was completed. The success of the work developed into a five-year partnership, with CCIM continuing to engage Springboard for additional learning and development initiatives.

That continued relationship reflects an important part of Springboard's approach to learning development: we can help with a specific course or curriculum need, but we can also become an extension of an organization's learning team, bringing the instructional design expertise, capacity, and structure needed as its educational portfolio grows and changes.
